Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-09-02
This policy explains what Eulogy Kit, operated by Eulogy Kit, collects when you use the service, where it is kept, who processes it, and how to have it removed. It is short because we collect little and keep it in one place.
What we collect
- Your interview answers. The 24 answers you type: your first name and relationship, the name, dates, life and stories of the person who died, who survives them, the service details, and your choices of tone, tradition and length.
- The generated kit and any rewrite notes you send.
- Payment details are collected by Stripe, not by us. Stripe holds your card details and the email address you give at checkout; we never see the card. We do not use the email address except, while we are advertising, as a hashed value for ad measurement (see “Advertising measurement” below).
- Advertising attribution. If the link that brought you here carries campaign parameters (utm_*) or a Google Ads click id (gclid), we keep them, and while we advertise we also read the _fbp and _fbc cookie ids that the Meta pixel sets on the home and sample pages. Both are sent with your answers when you continue to payment and are stored with your order on the Stripe Checkout Session, so that a sale can be credited to the advert that led to it. For a Google Ads click, the click id, the time of the order and the amount are reported back to Google Ads; nothing you typed is sent. They are never used for anything else.
We do not create accounts. On the interview and kit pages we do not set cookies, run analytics or load third-party scripts; the only cookies on this site are the optional Meta ones described below, set on the home and sample pages while we advertise. While you fill in the interview, your draft answers are held in your own browser’s local storage so you can come back to them, and any campaign parameters are held in session storage the same way; they leave your device only when you continue to payment, and the draft is cleared once your kit is delivered.
Where it is stored
Your answers and the finished kit are stored as metadata on your Stripe payment record (the Checkout Session, PaymentIntent and Charge objects Stripe creates for your order). Stripe is our only database. The kit is readable only through your private link; no one, including us, can reach it by searching for your name.
Who processes it
- Stripe processes the payment, sends the receipt email, and stores the metadata described above. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
- Anthropic receives the text of your answers once (and again for each rewrite) to generate the kit with its Claude model. Anthropic processes this data under its commercial terms and does not use API data to train its models.
- Vercel hosts the site. Its server logs record requests, timings and order identifiers; we do not write your answers or the kit text to logs.
- Meta, only while we advertise, receives the two measurement events described under “Advertising measurement” below and nothing else.
We do not sell, share or use your answers for anything other than producing your kit. We do not use them to improve the service, and we do not read them unless a payment dispute requires it.
Advertising measurement, only when we advertise
If we run advertising, the home page and the sample page may load one Meta (Facebook) pixel so we can tell whether an advert brought you here. While advertising runs, our server also sends Meta two measurement events, neither of which contains anything you type. When you continue to payment we send a “started checkout” event containing your IP address, your browser type (the user agent string), the cookie ids described above and your order id. After payment we send a purchase event with the order id, the amount, the same cookie ids and a hashed form of the email address you gave Stripe (a one-way fingerprint that Meta can match against its own records but cannot read back). Visitors in Europe are asked before the pixel is set and can decline it; the choice is remembered in your browser (clear this site’s data to change it), and when the pixel is declined it never loads and no cookie ids are collected. The pixel never runs on the interview or kit pages, and nothing you type is ever sent to Meta. When we are not advertising, none of this is loaded or sent.
Sensitive information
What you type will usually include the fact of a death, the names of family members, and the faith or tradition of the service. Information about religious belief is treated as a special category of personal data under laws such as the GDPR. We ask for it only so the kit’s closing words and readings match the service; the selector is deliberately coarse and can be set to “secular” or “mixed or other”. By submitting the interview you ask us to process this information for that single purpose. You are responsible for having the right to share information about other people, living or dead, for this purpose.
How long we keep it
Metadata on a Stripe payment record persists for the life of our Stripe account, so your link keeps working. We do not run a schedule that deletes it. If we close the service, the records will be deleted with the Stripe account, subject to the financial-record retention Stripe and the law require.
Your choices and how to request deletion
There is no inbox behind the service, so two routes are available.
- Within 7 days: use the refund button at the bottom of your kit page. The order is refunded and the kit page is closed immediately. The payment record itself remains at Stripe as a financial record.
- At any time: send a deletion request to the support contact printed on your Stripe receipt, quoting your private link or the date and amount of the payment. We will remove your answers and the kit from the payment record within 30 days, keeping only what the payment record legally requires, and the link will stop working. Requests for a copy of the data you provided can be made the same way; the kit page itself already contains everything we hold.
Children
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly accept orders from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will not apply to answers you have already submitted without your agreement.
